1. Tangy Mango Salsa with Date Syrup
1 large ripe red mango, diced
1/2 red onion, finely chopped
1 large jalapeño, seeded and minced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Juice of 1 lime
2 tablespoons LIVA date syrup
1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
Salt to taste
Instructions: Whisk Liquids, date syrup and spices together. Chop fruits/veggies/ herbs. Add the Sauce on top and mix.
2. Smokey BBQ Sauce with Date Syrup
1 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup date syrup
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2/4 tsp liquid smoke
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 + 1/4 tsp teaspoon salt (or salt to taste)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: a pinch of cayenne pepper (if you like it spicy)
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, combine the tomato sauce, date syrup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke and Dijon mustard. Mix well until smooth.
2. Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir until all the ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
3. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings according to your preference. If you like it sweeter, add a bit more date syrup. If you prefer it tangier, add more apple cider vinegar.
4. Let the sauce sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
5. When cooking chicken, brush the barbecue sauce onto the chicken during the last 5-10 minutes of grilling or baking. You can also use it as a marinade by coating the chicken with the sauce and letting it marinate in the refrigerator for a few hours before cooking.
3. Spicy Sriracha Mayo
1/2 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
1 tablespoon LIVA date syrup
1 teaspoon lime juice
Salt to taste
Directions: mix all ingredients together until well combined
4. Fresh Basil Pesto with Date Syrup
2 cups fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup pine nuts
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 large cloves garlic
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons LIVA date syrup
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions: Blend the basil, pines, parmesan cheese and garlic together. Slowly add LIVA Date Syrup and Olive Oil while processing until smooth.
